|Overview||The researchers of the group belong to the Department of Architectural and Building Engineering and the Department of Mechanics of the Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI). The Politecnico di Milano is ranked as one of the most outstanding European universities, and in many disciplines is regarded as a leading research institution worldwide. The two Departments have researchers whose teaching and research activities cover several aspects of the materials and structural behaviour, including experimental techniques developments and numerical modelling.|
|People||Valter Carvelli is Associate Professor with more than fifteen years' experience in the experimental and numerical investigation of composite materials and composite structures.
Carlo Poggi is Full Professor of Structural Engineering and Director of the Materials Testing Laboratory. He is expert of structural strengthening with composite materials.
Marco Pisani is Full Professor of Structural Rehabilitation with more than twenty year experience in structural concrete, concrete reinforcements and repair.
Alfredo Cigada is Full Professor in the field of measurements with more than twenty years' experience in monitoring of mechanical devices and civil structures.
Emanuele Zappa is Assistant Professor in the field of measurements, with more than 10 years' experience in vision-based strain vibration and shape measuring techniques.
|Key Research Activities||
The experimental activities are developed at the "Materials Testing Laboratory" of POLIMI with several experimental facilities, including axial and torsional loading devices, environmental chambers, etc. The research activities include vision-based instrumentation development and application, for 2D and 3D measurement of shape, motion and strain, with particular interest in large structures analysis.
